10-30-06: James 1:2-4 (The Message) Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. God, help us to keep our faith strong not only when we are going through trials, but all the time. Thanks for surrounding us with good friends and Christians that help us build our faith so that when hard times come, we are ready.
10-23-06:
1 Chronicles 16:34 (The Message)
Thank you God for all that you do for me and my family. Thank you for taking care of us, and blessing us with more than we could ever need.
10-9-06 Philippians 4:6-7 Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. God, thank you for allowing us to give our worries and burdens to you. Thank you for taking care of us, and making sure we have everything we need.
Proverbs 15:26 (NIV) The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but those of the pure are pleasing to him. God, please keep our thought pure. Help us to live for you on the outside, and live for you with our thoughts as well.
10-2-06 Colossians 3:12 (The Message) . . . dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. God, let us be loving to others, even if they are not to us. Help us do treat other people as you would. Don't let us get caught up in worldly actions. Let others see you in us.
