5-26-08: First of all, let me apologize for not updating. It has been a very busy 2 weeks. I am at home last week and this week taking care of the kids, so that has been somewhat hectic. My mom is here now, which is a big help. Anyway, things have been good with us. I guess the biggest happening was Hobs having a semi-serious accident. He was running into our house and tripped (dang Crocs), falling with him mouth wide open onto our brick steps. It messed up his gums pretty bad, and bent his front tooth back significantly. After a trip to the ER to make sure he didn't have a concussion, and a trip to the dentist a few days later, it looks like his teeth will be ok. His gums aren't black anymore, and his tooth is starting to correct itself. He had a very different smile way of talking for a few days, but he is back to himself.

Penn is doing well. He is growing. He is already bigger than Hobs was a this point. He is wearing stuff now that Hobs couldn't wear until he was 3 months old. We go tomorrow for his next well-baby appointment.

Our Memorial Day was good. We spent the day at Penny's swimming and cooking out. Hobs loves that water, and couldn't get enough of it.

That's about it for now. I am busy studying for my comprehensive exams that are June 19th, as well as getting ready to start teaching again tomorrow night. That's about it, have a good one. If you didn't look at the videos that I posted for Hobs' b-day, you should, they are good. They are in the post below.

5-5-08: Happy Birthday Hobs! Last Tuesday was Hobs' 2nd birthday. Because we had just been released from the hospital, and because his bday came in the middle of the week, we didn't have his party until last night. Anyway, I took the day off to be with him (since I had class that night). We woke him up that morning, and took him to eat a meal of his choosing, which was of course pancakes (or as he would say, "panpakes"). To get his panpakes, we took him for his first trip ever to McDonald's. We ate, and let him run wild on the playground. Afterwards, we took him to school for a couple hours so he could bring cupcakes to all his friends. After lunch, I went and picked him up, and he passed out in the car on the way home listening to his favorite song: "Elvira" (yes, the Oakridge Boys).

That night, our friends Mike and Katie came over and brought him a cookie cake, which he loved to stick his fingers in and lick the icing off. We put the picks of his bday HERE.

Like I said, he had his party last night. He had all of his church friends over, as well as my parents and Hollie's mom. He had a great time. We did a football theme, which he liked. He got a lot of great stuff. He got an easel to draw on from my parents, a golf cart from Hollie's mom, and a tool bench from my grandparents, which he has hardly stopped playing with. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Those pics are HERE. Also, HERE is a video of him blowing out his candles. I will say, Hobs has truly been a blessing to us the last 2 years. He is so much fun, and such a great kid. We really can't be thankful enough for him. ***HERE is a video I made of his first 2 years***   (and yes, that is the Oak Ridge Boys)

Hollie's grandmother passed away last Wednesday morning, so we made the trip to Waco Thursday to go to her funeral. It was very sad, but it was nice that Hollie's dad had a chance to spend some time with the boys. Hobs also got to swim at the hotel, which he enjoyed. Here is a pic of Hobs' last visit with Grandma.

Penn is doing great. He is an awesome baby. He is eating well, and sleeping well, and overall, doing great. He is getting to be a little more awake during the day, which is fun. He had a Dr.'s appointment this morning to take some blood as a follow up for some troubling markers that showed up during his newborn screening. So, please pray that his blood tests prove the newborn screen to be wrong. We should know in the next 2 weeks.

Otherwise, he is great. HERE are some pics of him over the past week. Enjoy.
