Sorry no updates lately, having a couple site issues. I will have it updated next Monday (6-11) with some new pics, I promise . . . . .
5-21-07: Hey everyone. Not a lot has changed since last week. We are both trying to wrap up at our respective schools and get ready for the Summer. We finally got everything with our car squared away. We got our settlement check last week, and bought a new car Saturday. We ended up getting me a Volvo S60. I really like it, so hopefully this one will last us a while. Here is a pic if you are interested:
Our annual Party on the Patio is this weekend that we have for most of the people I work with. That is always fun. I will do my best to have pictures of that next week. Until then, have a good one.
5-14-07: Hello again. Not too much has happened in the last week. We are still messing with the car crap. The estimated that repairing my car would cost a little over $13,000 , so obviously it ended up being totaled. We are now haggling with insurance about our settlement, and trying to find a new car now. Otherwise, our week was pretty uneventful. Hobs is really close to walking. Really close. He is talking up a storm these days. He points to me and says "dad" and points to Hollie and says "mom." He has got "bye bye" down. He also knows now to point to something he wants and sign "more" to get a bite of it (i.e. a box of donuts at church yesterday morning). School is winding up for us. We are really excited about getting to spend the long summer together. We are planning our trips right now (2-3 beach trips). We will go to Florida in July sometime to visit the Napiers, and then will probably go to the coast 1-2 times in August before school. That's about it for now. I ordered my surround sound today, so it should be in and installed before our anual Party on the Patio we do for my work friends every year. Looking forward to that. Have a good week. I put some pictures of what is left of my car HERE.
5-8-07: Hello everyone. Sorry I did not update yesterday, but it has been quite a week. It started I guess Wednesday night, when the DFW area was hit with a hurricane. It uprooted the trees in our front yard, which frustrated me. That was not the end of the world. The rest of the week went alright. Saturday, Hollie hosted a baby shower at our house, so I dropped Hobs off at Penny's for the day, and helped Hollie get stuff ready. That afternoon, I left and went to a friend's house while the shower was going on. Afterward, we picked up Hobs and went to the Roughriders baseball game. LCU was having an alumni thing there, so it was a lot of fun. Well, Hobs had not eaten a lot that day, and had not slept much that day for some reason, so he was really cranky by about the 6th inning. So, we packed up early and left. Well, while sitting at the light about 1/2 a mile from the stadium, a guy slammed into us going about 40 mph (estimated by the cops). That sent us into the car in front of us. Needless to say, it was terrifying. If you have never been in a semi-serious wreck with a baby in the car, I wouldn't recommend it. As soon as we got our wits about us after we were hit, we immediately turned around to check on Hobs, who at that point wasn't making a sound. He was just sitting there looking at us like "what was that?" My memory is kinda fuzzy about what exactly happened, but I think Hollie was screaming, there was glass everywhere, the backseat was practically in the front seat, and I was yelling "he's ok, he's ok" over and over again. I think the yelling and screaming really scared Hobs, because that is when he started crying. As soon as I saw he was ok, I got out to check on everyone else. The car that hit us had his horn stuck on, and the driver was collapsed in the median. The lady in front of us was fine, just mad about her car. Anyway, everyone was, for the most part fine. The ambulance got there before I was even off the phone with 911. There was some other guy that had just pulled over to help, and he took care of Hollie and Hobs. He got them blankets and got Hobs stuff out of our car, stopped traffic, etc. He was a lifesaver, but of course, he left before I could thank him or get his name. Thank God for people like that. Anyway, they took Hobs into the ambulance to check him out. He was ok, as were the rest of us. As for my car, not so much. We are waiting to hear back to see if it is totaled or not. The carseat was ruined, and the stroller we had in the trunk is mangled beyond belief. So, after the ambulance left, Hobs started throwing up. Scary, to say the least. We ended up going to the ER to have him checked more thoroughly. He was dry heaving at the hospital, but the Dr. said it was probably just nerves, plus the fact that we had packed him full of junk food at the game. We ended up getting to bed about 3:00 AM. Hobs woke up screaming about 8:30, but we finally got him calmed down. He slept that day from about 11 - 5:30 that evening. Yesterday, he still was screaming, so we took him to the Dr. to follow up. As far as the wreck goes, he is fine. He does, however, have a nice case of strep throat. Poor kid. The rest of us are ok, very sore, but ok. We got some pain meds, so we are good to go. We also got our trees back in the ground, so that is one less thing to worry about. I am in a rental car now, so this time next week we may have a new car, or may at least know how long it will take to get my poor car back. It was really dark, so I couldn't get a good pic of the damage with my phone. That is about all for now. We are really blessed to all be ok after the wreck. I know wrecks are pretty common, but you can never really prepare yourself for one, especially when your kid is in the car. Oh well, that is it for this week. Talk to you all later.
How many view of weekly news this week.
