Here's what's going on in our lives (if you care):

May 2006

5-22-06: Hello, happy Monday to everyone (or not). I think we have the best kid in the world. He is great so far. Last night he slept though the night, and finally woke up only when we HAD to feed him. He is sleeping for longer periods of time now, which is great. He stays up for a couple hours at a time during the day, but when the sun goes down, he knows it is lights out. Yesterday Hollie and I got to catch up on some of our TV watching, which we hadn't been able to do since he was born. We went to church, then put him down after lunch and just hung out. It was really nice to just spend some quality time together, which for us means TV watching. This is my last week of school before a week off, then I start Summer School. We are planning on driving to Lubbock this weekend to show Hobs off to the peeps there. So, I probably won't get in an update next week. Anyway, I guess that is about all for now. Hobs is really getting strong, and is able to hold his head up and just stare at you without looking too much like a bobble-head. He has the hiccups so much that I decided to video it. I know you probably won't think it is half as cute (I hate using the word cute) as we do, but oh well, I still put the video up on the site. Also, his belly button stump finally fell off, so we gave him his first real bath last night. I put that video up too. I also put up some more pics from the past week. All of that is HERE.

Oh well, that's about it, I hope everyone has a good holiday weekend.

5-16-06: Hey. Sorry for not updating yesterday, I was really busy and never got time. Things are starting to settle in somewhat. Hobs has started to finally wake up at times when he is hungry, which is good, since he gets really mad when you wake him up to feed him. We have still not found a diaper that doesn't leak. Luckily, he is only leaking liquids. Once we start leaking the other stuff on a consistent basis, my mood may begin to change. The sleep schedule for Hollie and me is still a little sporadic, but I am sure we will eventually get the hang of it. The house is a little bit of a wreck, but other than that, things are starting to click.

My parents decided last minute to drive up Saturday morning so dad could see Hobs, so that was fun. They got there around lunch, just in time for us to leave to go to child birth class (I know, we already had the baby, but we were asked to come back to tell our "birth story"). That night we cooked out and just hung out at the house. Sunday, they got up and left, and we went to church. Hollie's first Mother's Day was good I think. We ate Mother's Day lunch after church with Penny, and then drove around looking at houses for a couple hours. We basically just rested for the rest of the day, which was nice. Next week is my last week of school, so that is good. I will be teaching Summer School again this year, but I get a week off in between. I think we are planning on driving to Lubbock for Memorial Day weekend to show Hobs to all our friends out there. Other than that, nothing else too out of the ordinary is going on. I have taken down the Guestbook for a couple days to do some stuff. Also, I posted some more pics and a video of Hobs HERE last Friday if you want to check it out. Have a good week.

5-9-06: Good morning. Sorry I didn't get around to the full update yesterday, things were insane at work (after missing a week I knew they would be. Anyway, things are starting to settle in at our house. Hobs has been home a week now. He sleeps great. We always have to wake him up to eat. That, however, is the problem. This kid hates eating (definitely not like his parents). He screams when it is time to eat, but that is the only time he cries, so that is good. That part is just a little stressful, but other than that, he is perfect. He does puke on you every now and then, but oh well.

I have had more sleep this week than last, so don't expect anything too sappy on this post, however, I do have to say that the whole parenting thing really changes your outlook on life. It is no longer just about us. It really makes you rearrange your priorities. I will say that it makes me see Hollie in a whole new light. I think she was born to be a mother, and it shows. The jury is still out on me.

Going through the last 9 days has really made us realize how truly blessed we are. The support our church and our friends have given us is unreal. We had so many guests at the hospital, which was great. The night he was born, there were tons of our friends that came up to support Hollie and me, and to see Hobs. There was never more than an hour that passed at the hospital during visiting hours that we didn't have at least one person come by. When we got home, our awesome small group had stocked our fridge, freezer, and cabinets with food for us. Mike and Katie B. came over that night and delivered a giant stork in our yard, which was awesome. This whole thing has really made us want to sit back and thank God for everything he is doing for us. We have an awesome church family, an incredible small, and friends that we don't deserve.

I told Hollie a couple nights ago that even though the last 5 weeks have been very stressful, it has been the best month of our marriage by far. We really started to pray like we should, and just enjoyed our time together more. So, needless to say, other than the feeding nightmare with Hobs, I am loving life. Anyway, that is all the sap for now (gross, I know, I did it again). I put up some pics from the hospital, and from the last 6 days at the house. They are HERE. Talk to you next week.

5-1-06: Well, I am writing this from the hospital room, so I will keep it short. Hobs finally came, and he is perfect. He got here Saturday night at 9:15. Things didn’t quite go as we had hoped/expected, but he is here and healthy, and that is all that counts. I wrote a very detailed account of the birth here and added some pics from his birth. I will add TONS of more pics later when I have some more time. Hollie is doing great, so is the baby. We will probably be home tomorrow morning, unless they decide that they want to send us home tonight. I guess that’s about it for now. I will post more info and pics when I have a chance. Thanks for checking in.
