1 Corinthians 13: 1-7 (The Message)
If I speak with human eloquence and angelic
ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.
2If I speak God's Word with
power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and
if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't
love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the
stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So,
no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without
love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
God, please help us to love above
all else. Give us the patience we need to treat others as you would.

1 Corinthians 15: 17-20a
For if the dead are not raised, then
Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your
faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen
asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we
are to be pitied more than all men . . . But Christ has indeed been raised
from the dead
God, there are no words to thank
you for raising from the dead to save us from our sins. Please let us never
take for granted what you have done (and do) for us.
3/10/08:
Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the Lord your God
is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand
generations of those who love him and keep his commands.
Lord, please let us
trust you completely and know that you will keep your promises to us. Help us
to live in a way that reflects those promises.
3/3/08:
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong
and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your
God will be with you wherever you go.
God, please help us
to never fear anything or anyone, knowing that you will protect us. Help us to
be courageous in everything we do.
