7-30-07: Hey. I hope everyone is having a good week. Ours is good, well, the first 2 days have been good at least. I had my final class today that I have to go to. I have written my part of the final, and have to go to Arlington to pick up the tests to grade next week, but otherwise I'm done for a couple weeks. Hollie is working on her school stuff and getting ready for her year to start, but basically we have had a lot of time to just hang out (the 3 of us). We are swimming a lot and having a lot of fun. Not sure either of us will be ready for school to start back up.

Well, I guess that's about it for now, nothing else too interesting. See ya next week.

7-23-07: Well, we are back from Puerto Rico, and it was awesome. We had a great time, but are all glad to be home. Anyway, I won’t bore anyone with all the details of our trip, but will give a run down if you are interested (even if you’re not, I am gonna do it anyway).

We all (12 of us in all) flew out Thursday morning early. It was all of Hollie’s family, plus Hollie’s mom’s friend Weezie. Brad (Hollie’s brother) backed out last minute, otherwise there would have been 13 of us. Anyway, we landed in San Juan early afternoon, then had to wait a while to figure out something about our rental cars. We did rent 3 cars, but thanks to a minor mistake on my part (which we won’t talk about), we had a wait a while longer than expected. We finally did get all 3 cars, and ended up at our condos about 6:30 that evening. We stayed in Loiza, about 30 minutes from San Juan. It was away from the huge tourist zone, but that’s what we wanted. Our beach was by far the best we saw the entire trip.

So, Friday we just hung out at our condo and swam. That night Bucky, Weezie, and I decided to make a little casino trip into San Juan which ended up to be minimally productive. Saturday we went to Fajardo Beach based on the advice from many people. We soon realized that just because it is crowded doesn’t mean it is better. It was fun, but not worth the drive if we had to do over again. That night we went to Soleil for dinner. It was a really popular restaurant out in the middle of nowhere. It was definitely the party place for Puerto Ricans, but was awesome. It was very authentic. I was served octopi whole. They just fried them and served them. I put some pics of the place up on the pics page. Sunday, we went stayed at the apartments again, and we took another run to the casinos, where I donated my previous winnings back to the gambling industry. Monday, we went into old San Juan, which was a lot of fun. The girls did a lot of shopping, while the guys looked for air conditioned buildings to sit in and wait. Tuesday, we made the 2 hour drive to the Caribbean side to do some snorkeling and see the beaches there. Wednesday, some of us went to the rainforest, then Hollie and I went back to old San Juan so she could shop some more. Thursday we came home.

There it is, a Cliff’s Notes version of our trip.

I was going to write some more this week, but I will save it since this post has become sort of long. I realized my updates have been mind numbingly boring as of late, so I will work on that in the future. Anyway, I have to lecture today on special needs kids, so I better go start preparing. See ya’ll later.

Oh yeah, I put a TON of pics from the trip up. There were so many that I didn’t want to take the time to resize them, and I wanted to organize them, so I did it a little differently. I created a page for our trip, and included different pages with all the pics on them, plus a video of Hobs’ first time on the beach. (the video is HERE).     The vacation page is HERE. Enjoy.

7-9-07: Sorry for the delay in the update for this week. I (Hollie) have been given the honor to write this weeks "message" and well - this is the first chance I have had to get it done!  We had a great week last week - we spent a lot of time at my mom's house using and abusing her and her pool!  Hobs likes to swim although he much prefers the water to be warm like his bath than cold - but really who can blame him?  We went to see fireworks on the 4th with my mom, brother, niece nephews and a friend of my mom's from church.  It was nice and just a relaxing day.  The 4th was my grandmother's birthday and when I was little we always went to Cisco to celebrate the 4th of July and MaMa's birthday.  Not a year goes by that I don't think of her and celebrate her life and her legacy.  I just wish she was still around to meet Hobs (he was named after my PaPa - her husband).

Stephen and I got a lot done this past week. We FINALLY cleaned out the garage and we might actually be able to park our cars in there now!!! It has only taken us six months of living here to get that done!

Well unfortunately I don't have anything fun to talk about this week - maybe that is why Stephen only asks me to do the update once every 6 months or so....Sorry I am so boring....I will try to do better!

Have a great week!

HB
