Here's what's going on in our lives (if you care): |

2-27-06: Good morning. I hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was great,
mainly because we hardly did anything. Friday, Hollie had a doctors
appointment that went really well, things are going great. We really have
been lucky, Hollie has had the best pregnancy of anyone we know. She hasn't
been sick at all, we are really enjoying all of it. Anyway, Friday night,
our small group split up and the guys went to basketball game, and the girls
just went to our house to eat and yap about babies. Saturday, we got up, had
our weekly healthy breakfast from the donut shop, and started to watch a
movie. The DVD messed up halfway through, so we had to take it back. We then
went to our final child birth class, which was good. We may go back to at
least one more class for a quick "refresher" before the baby gets here
though. After class, we went back by the movie store to exchange that DVD,
and get another one to watch that night. We got the first disk of the first
season of LOST. We know a lot of people that watch it, and really like it,
so we decided to give it a try. So, we watched the rest of the movie from
that morning, then sat on the couch (interrupted by frequent trips to the
bathroom by my pregnant wife) for the rest of the night and watched all 4
episodes of LOST that were on that disk. We liked it so much, I almost went
back to get the second disk, but since it was already 11:30, and we usually
go to early service, we (Hollie) decided that I wouldn't go.
Anyway, we went to church and class yesterday, then did our monthly grocery shopping. On the way home, we picked up the next 4 episodes of lost, and went through those with one break in the middle to cook dinner. So, needless to say, we are now big fans of LOST. We will definitely be finishing up the first season as soon as we can. That may be later than sooner though. I have a conference this Saturday downtown, and Hollie is going to a wedding in Waco. The next weekend is the start of Spring Break, so we will have company for that week. Anyway, we enjoyed our weekend with nothing to do. We have a shower are one of my schools this Wednesday, so that should be good. Oh well, that's it. Have a good week, see everyone later.
2-20-06: Good afternoon. When we got up this morning, Hollie rolled over and said "I hardly feel like we had a weekend." I would have to agree. Our weekend was really fun, but really busy. Thursday night my parents got into town. They got in fairly late, so we talked for a few minutes then we all crashed. Friday night, my mom cooked dinner for us after work, which was great. Penny got there right after that. We all just hung out and talked. About 1:30 am, Amy and Brett rolled in. We stayed up and talked to them for a while. Brett and I both fell asleep in the gameroom about 3:00, but Amy and Hollie yapped until about 5:00 that morning. Saturday, we got up around 10:00, then talked some more with everyone there, then headed out to child birth class. After that, us, Brett and Amy, and the Beitlers all went out to dinner, which was a lot of fun. Yesterday morning we all went to church, then after class we all went to lunch (about 11 of us). Dad and I then went back to the house during the baby shower. The shower was good, and we got a lot of great stuff. I never thought I would be so into baby stuff, but when it is free, it is easy to get excited. Mom and dad left early this morning, so things are getting back to normal this week. This weekend was a lot of fun, but we are ready for this coming weekend, because we have NOTHING to do, and we are just going to lay around. Anyway, hope every one has a good week. The shower pics are HERE.
2-13-06: Hello. I wish it wasn't Monday, because I sure don't want to be at work today. Oh well, life goes on. This morning I had my annual presentation for the Master's students at UTA. That went well. After that, I met with the director of the Ph.D. program to discuss me enrolling for the fall. It was a little overwhelming to say the least. It will be a long process, but I think I am going to go ahead and apply. Our weekend went ok. We had a couple of doctors appointments Friday, which went "ok." We didn't exactly get the answers we were looking for, so that was a little stressful. That night we had small group, then came home and slept. Saturday, we cleaned house some, then went to child birth class. After that, we went and had a really nice dinner for Valentine's Day. We came home and crashed after that. Sunday, we went to church, then came home. Mike and Katie came over and finished up the painting, and it looks great! This weekend is our first baby shower, so we are ready to see what we get so we can start really putting the nursery together. We have a lot of friends and family coming into town for the shower, so that will be fun. Oh well, see you all next week. Have a good one.
2-6-06: Hello everyone. Happy Monday. I hope everyone had a good weekend, and enjoyed the most boring Super Bowl in history. We had a good time with our small group, even though the game was a total waste of time. Anyway, our weekend was good. Friday night we had a child birth "type" class at the hospital in Plano from 6:30 - 10:00. If you are thinking to yourself "that sure seems like a long class," you are right. It wasn't that bad, it actually went kinda fast. Saturday, we got up and talked about cleaning the house for a while, then laid around and watched some TV. We went to childbirth class at 1:00 as usual (which I want to talk about here in a minute). After that, I went and took a lot of money from church friends at poker night. Yesterday, we went to church, and started a new class, which we think will be really good. The new addition to the building opened yesterday (which is huge!), so they started a lot of new classes now that they finally have the space to accommodate everyone. Service was a little out of the ordinary. They interrupted our worship leader mid-song to ask the congregation if there was a Dr. in the building. After they realized there was not, they called 911 and the paramedics came. Apparently, a very pregnant woman collapsed during a song. She is ok, thank goodness, but it made for an interesting service. I don't think I have ever had the song leader just stop singing in the middle of a song. Anyway, speaking of pregnant women, I just wanted to say that I am really getting into this whole natural child birth thing. When I met Hollie, she had always talked about wanting to do a drug-free childbirth, which was fine with me (I honestly didn't care either way). I started going to our Bradley Method class (www.bradleybirth.com) with her basically because she told me that was what she wanted to do, so I just tagged a long. However, the more we go, and the more research I do, I realize that I really agree with this whole concept, and am really proud of her for doing this. It is great that she is willing to take this on for our baby. We have talked a lot about it, and we both like this method so much that we are seriously contemplating becoming certified Bradley trainers when this whole thing is said and done. I know no one that reads this board is really contemplating pregnancy, but if you are, you should really check out the website. Oh well, I am not getting on a soapbox, just thought I would add that in. Have a good week - see you all later. |
