December 2006

12-20-06: Hello, sorry for the late update. Like I said last week, our anniversary was Friday. I surprised Hollie with a trip to Vegas, and we didn't get back until yesterday. We had a blast. We stayed at Luxor, which was nice. We usually stay at MGM, so we were worried that it would be a significant downgrade, but we were pleasantly surprised. We didn't really do anything too special, just spent a lot of time at the roulette wheel (our weakness) and I played a lot of poker. It was actually really cold. The last night we were there, it snowed, which was interesting. I didn't know it actually ever snowed in the dessert. Oh well, Hobs stayed with Penny. The hardest thing about leaving was that Hobs got really sick the morning we left, so we made a trip to the Dr. on the way to take him to Penny's house. We ended up buying a breathing machine and some more prescriptions, so that was fun. He didn't really sleep that well while we were gone either. It was kinda tough being away for the first time, especially knowing that he was sick while we were gone. Other than that, he was pretty happy to see us I think.

Well, this is my last day of school for the semester, so I don't know if I will update from home or not, I guess it just depends on how busy we are. If not, I will see you all when we get back.

Oh yeah, since we go to Vegas somewhat frequently, we didn't take many pics. The 4 we took are HERE.

]12-12-06: Good morning. This is going to be very brief. Since we have last talked, the stomach bug has run roughshod through our household. Thursday Hobs had it, Saturday Hollie had it, then I got the worst of it Sunday through today. I don't think I have been this sick in a long, long time. Anyway, the exciting news is that Hobs crawled for the first time yesterday! We can attribute his success to the stupid cat. For some reason, he is enamored by our cat. Whenever she comes around, he will do whatever he can to touch her. So, last night, he finally stopped his army crawling (briefly) and actually crawled after her. However, when she ran away, he plopped down on the floor and got mad. Oh well. Anyway, he has also become very intrigued by the little doorstops throughout the house. I put a short video of him interacting with one HERE.

Also, I decided that I was very proud of my effort to decorate our home this year, so I am putting a pic of our house below for your holiday enjoyment. That's about it for now. This weekend is our 5 year anniversary, so we are looking forward to that. See you next week.

12-5-06: Hello. Sorry this is coming a day late, but it was a little insane yesterday and I didn’t get a chance to update. I had a final in stats last night, so that consumed most of my weekend. I am now done with school for the semester, which is nice, so I will have a little more time on my hands.

Anyway, Hobs is still sick, but much better. It was a pretty tough weekend for him, which in turn, made it rough on us (mostly Hollie). He ended up getting a breathing machine last week, and we (again, Hollie) had to give him breathing treatments 3 times a day, and then a plethora of other medicine on top of that. He didn’t seem to be getting much better throughout the week. He was not really acting like himself, and was waking up a lot at night, which is very unusual for him. To top things off, our babysitter was on vacation last week, so Penny kept him for us. Since neither of us felt like driving an hour out of the way to work to drop him off, we just stayed over there for 3 of the nights last week. We enjoyed staying there, but I think it threw him off a little bit. Anyway, he did not get much better throughout the week, so the Dr. told us to up his breathing treatments to 4 times a day, and once in the middle of the night. Also, he is starting to cut 2 teeth, which isn’t helping his attitude toward life. So, Sunday he seemed to be getting a little better, however, still managed to wake up at 1 AM and stay up until around 4:30. Hollie was, of course, the great wife and mother and insisted that I sleep since I had to work Monday. So, he went back to the Dr. yesterday, and they said he seemed to be getting a lot better, so they took away the breathing machine (which was great, since the day before we dropped $55 on new meds to go into the machine). So, he did seem to be a lot better yesterday. He woke up about midnight, and I took care of him since Hollie had been doing it for the entire weekend. He went back to sleep on an off again for about an hour, but finally laid down for the night around 1:00. So, that is what our weekend consisted of.

That is about it for now. Sorry if this was mostly negative, it really wasn’t meant to be that way, I am just updating what is going on in our world. Hobs is still about the best kid in the world. He is still in a great mood most of the time. Oh well, talk to you next week, have a good one.
